Getting ready for a show

There are many components of a successful  art show besides simply creating the art work.  Of course, the quality of each piece is important; probably the most important factor.  However, of near equal significance  is the continuity of theme, color, and subject of the paintings.  So, I test this factor by lining up the paintings, one next to the other, to give me a sense of whether they work together.

 

Promotion is also a major step in preparing for the show.  Figuring out the most efficient way to timely contact the largest number of people to get the word out is a challenge.  Social media is a wonderful aid as are good old fashioned publicity handouts.

 

Finally, creating an inviting and comfortable atmosphere is key.  The right food, refreshments and music are important. 

 

I enjoy the whole process but, it can keep me up at night, fretting over the details.
